About Neil

Neil Curtis

BSc PGA Head Professional Class AA

A graduate in Economics and Management, Neil studied at St Andrews University, the home of golf in Scotland, from 1995 to 1999.  He then trained with Bruce Whipham and qualified as a professional at Kirby Muxloe in Leicestershire, passing the PGA Diploma with distinction at the Belfry in 2001.

Neil secured his first post as Club Professional at Melton Mowbray and is proud to have been that club’s longest serving professional after 12 years of service. In 2014 he was appointed as Head Professional at our 45 hole complex at Greetham Valley and enjoys the responsibility as head of department at a thriving venue.

The highlights of Neil’s playing career include competing in the final stages of qualifying for the Open in 2005 and two British Club Professional Championship finals. He also captained the Leicestershire U18s team, won his home club championship twice and the University Championship during his time playing the Links in Fife.

Neil attends continual professional development courses and is in the process of completing assignments toward the PGA Advanced Certificate in Coaching Studies.

Neil’s patience and enthusiasm is boundless and he believes in a simple and fun approach to teaching. As such he relates well to all ages and abilities.

Coach to the Leicestershire & Rutland U16’s team for six years Neil is familiar with the development of talented players.
